SOLVANG TRIATHLON CAMPS SCHOLARSHIP
- Solvang Triathlon Camps are giving a scholarship away for our Spring Fling Camp March 11-18, 2012!
- Are you an up and coming elite triathlete that would love to attend a training camp in Solvang? We are now accepting applications to win a scholarship to attend our Spring Fling Camp in Solvang, California. Solvang Triathlon Camps has a history of supporting up and coming elite athletes and helping them make the transition to a professional level and this is something we are very keen to continue into 2012. The amount of training and dedication necessary to become a professional triathlete is immense and for a young elite athlete trying to make that transition to be professional and we would like to assist in that transition. The camp atmosphere provides tremendous support to an athlete and is a great opportunity to escape cold training conditions in the early season. It also allows a chance to focus on the sport and make a breakthrough with training loads that can start your season off on the right foot.
- The scholarship provides:
- All training fees, coaching, seminars, evening meals, camp cycling jersey, training support/nutrition, goodie bag, airport shuttle from Santa Barbara Airport to Solvang and return, and the opportunity to train in challenging terrain and test new limits!
- Scholarship criteria:
- The athlete is either a first year pro or is looking to race professionally within the sport of Triathlon in the next two years.
- Aged 30 or under.
- Top age group results already achieved at Olympic Distance/70.3 or Ironman races in 2009/2010/2011. First year professional results also considered.
- The athlete is very motivated and has a drive to do well in the sport.
- The athlete is willing to keep a video diary/blog account of camp experience and share this with Solvang Triathlon Camps for use on their social media marketing (audio/visual equipment provided by the camp).
- Able to provide contact name/email/number of coach (if applicable) or sport adviser.
- Able to meet the cost of travel to Solvang (or Santa Barbara Airport) and camp accommodation (approx $45 to $69 a night in Solvang, up to $99 per night for the two Santa Barbara camp days).
- Application deadline: February 1st, 2012
- Scholarship winner announced: February 12, 2012
