SPRING FLING CAMP 2012 - ITINERARY
Sunday, March 11: Arrival Day, SOLVANG Swim and Introductions
Arrival day. For those who have not participated in the Solvang Century the day before, athletes arrive in Solvang (Hwy 101 to Hwy 246 East) and check in at the Meadowlark Inn (or overflow hotel), one mile east of Solvang on Hwy 246. Unpack, build bike, socialize!
4pm - 4:15pm: Meet at the Meadowlark Inn for brief introductions
4:15pm: Depart for the Swim Pool
4:30pm - 5:30pm: Swim. Goal of the session to loosen the legs up after the Century the day before and/or traveling to the camp.
6pm: BBQ at the Meadowlark Inn
7pm: Staff and participant introductions; brief discussion concerning the week ahead.
Monday, March 12: SOLVANG Kick-Off Bike and Run Day
7:30am - 9:15am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn
8:00am - 9.45am: Bike assistance available
10:00am: Ride briefing at the Meadowlark Inn
10:15am: Ride! (3 separate groups) THEME OF THE RIDE - DRILLS
Group 1 ~ Harris Grade Canyon Loop (64 miles)
Group 2 ~ Drum Canyon Loop (46 miles)
4pm: Run - Vineyard Run 30min - 60 min. Scenic, hilly run
5pm: Group stretching/core strength introduction for triathletes led by Jared Berg
6:10pm: Dinner at the Meadowlark Inn
7pm: Presentation - Guest Speaker Steve Smith PhD Sports Psychologist from SPaRC
Tuesday, March 13: SOLVANG Swim and Tepusquet Canyon
6:50am: Meet at the Meadowlark Inn front lawn area to walk to the pool
7am - 8am: Swim
8:00am - 9:45 am: Bike assistance available
7:30am - 9:30am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn
9:15am: Ride briefing at the Meadowlark Inn.
9:30am: Ride! THEME OF THE RIDE - HILLS/PACELINES for those that would like
Tepusquet ride out and back (71 mile + round trip). Turnaround at summit on Tepusquet (mile 35.5). Different mileage options available as this is an out and back ride.
5:30pm: Seminar - Nutrition
6:15pm: Depart for Dinner at a restaurant in Solvang
8pm: Outdoor movie night
Wednesday, March 14: SOLVANG The Recovery Day and wine tasting
7-8am: Running drills/easy track running at track. Depart from the Meadowlark Inn and run as a group to the track.
7:30-9:30am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn
8am - 9am: Bike assistance available
9:20am: Ride briefing
9:30am: Seminar - led by Coach Ryan Ignatz
10:30am: All groups - Tour of the Santa Ynez Valley (30-50 miles) THEME OF THE RIDE - SPINNING/SMALL CHAIN GEAR
4pm: Yoga session
5:45pm: Depart the Meadowlark Inn for wine tasting
6pm: Dinner
Thursday, March 15: SOLVANG - Jalama Beach
7am - 8:45am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn
8:00am - 9.45am: Bike assistance available
9am: Group 1 and 2A ~ Jalama Beach and back via Santa Rosa Road (81 miles)
Group 2B ~ Top of Santa Rosa Road/HWY 1 start to Jalama Beach and back to Meadowlark Inn (57 miles)
Group 3 ~ Top of Santa Rosa Road/HWY 1 start to Jalama Beach and back to top of Santa Rosa Road/HWY 1 intersection (34 miles)
Free afternoon
6pm: Dinner
7pm: Q and A with coaches around camp fire
Friday, March 16: SANTA BARBARA Long Run or ride for the pure cyclists, Open Water Swim
7:00am - 9:00am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn
9am: Pack/load vehicles for departure to Santa Barbara. Assistance with bike, bike box, luggage available if needed
10am: Depart for Santa Barbara and long run along coast or ride
Noon: Light lunch provided post run/ride
2pm: Open water swim - Santa Barbara in ocean
3pm: Settle into Santa Barbara hotel: TheEagleInn.com (4 blocks from our open water swim)
4pm onwards: Free night
Saturday, March 17: SANTA BARBARA The Big Climb! Gibraltar Ride or Brick Session
7am - 8am: Swim
7am - 9am: Breakfast at the Eagle Inn, Santa Barbara
7:30am - 9am: Bike assistance available
9:45am: Ride Briefing Ride (3 separate groups) THEME OF THE RIDE - PACING A CLIMB
10:15am Group 2 departs
10:45am Group 1 departs
Gibraltar climb on bikes and run at summit if desired. (Hand in run transition/summit bag to SAG in AM).
4pm: Bike packing
6:30pm: Wine and cheese at the Eagle Inn, Santa Barbara
7:30pm: Dinner at a local restaurant in Santa Barbara
9pm: Evening in Santa Barbara!
Sunday, March 18: SANTA BARBARA Departure Day!
7:30am-9am: Breakfast at the Eagle Inn
Airport shuttles begin at 9am...
10am: Optional run if your travel plans permit along the sea front
