WOMEN'S CYCLING CAMP 2009 - FAQ
- Who is suited to attend this camp?
- This camp is open to all women cyclists who wish to enjoy fully
supported rides and some of the best cycling terrain available in
California. The camp will have full technical support from Specialized
Bikes and is for women who are looking to enjoy and improve their
cycling, receive coaching and enjoy the comradery of others who enjoy
cycling. Rides will be from 30 - 50 miles each day and are catered to
all abilities. Please email our Camp Director Charlie Woodcock at

suitability of this camp for you.
- When does registration open?
- Registration is currently open.
- Where is the camp headquarters?
- The Meadowlark Inn is the camp headquarters.
- Do I have to bring my bike?
- Specialized Bikes are sponsoring this camp and will have women specific
road bikes available for all camp cyclists. If you would like to bring
your own bike then please do, but we will have a Specialized bike for
you if you choose to leave your bike at home. Please indicate your
preference on your registration form. Please make sure to bring your
own
pedals, shoes and helmet to the camp.
- Is there a bike shop in the area?
- Yes, Dr J's bike shop is 5.5 miles from the Meadowlark Inn in Buellton.

- If I choose to bring my bike, can I ship my bike to the Meadowlark Inn?
- Yes! Please state that you are with the Solvang Cycling Camps Women's

- Is there Laundry available during the camp week?
- Laundry is available at the Meadowlark Inn for $12 a bag. There is also
a laundromat in Buellton located 5.5 miles away.
- How many pairs of bike shorts should I bring?
- If you have a pair for each day, great, if not laundry is available at
the Meadowlark Inn for $12 a bag.
- I have special dietary requirements; will that pose a problem with the
evening meals?
- We will do our best to cater to you, please email the camp director to
explain your needs prior to the camp starting!
- What sort of ride food will be offered in the support vans?
- We are very lucky to be sponsored by Clif Bar and so will have Clif
Bars
and Clif Bloks to hand as well as Clif Shot electrolyte drink and
recovery drink available. We also always carry a selection of other
foods to meet your nutritional needs.
- What times are airport shuttles available for pick up from Santa
Barbara
Airport and drop off after the camp?
- Our camp staff are able to offer airport shuttles from Santa Barbara
airport for a small fee of $30 round trip. These shuttles are available
at set times, so if you are in need of a shuttle, please take these
times into account when booking your flight. Airport shuttles can be
booked with your registration, or at a later date. You will be asked
for
your flight times two weeks before the camp starts. Your designated
airport shuttle time will be emailed to you one week before the camp
starts.
- Pick up times at Santa Barbara Airport:
- 9am, 10:30am
- Departure day:
- Please allow 50 minute for the drive plus check in time at the airport
- 90mins is normally fine for domestic flights departing Santa Barbara.
- 2:30pm, 4pm, 5pm
- Alternatively, there is one company that offers an official airport
shuttle service to and from Solvang. www.superride.net or:
1-800-977-1123. They charge $80 one way plus an additional fee for your
bike.
