WOMEN'S CYCLING CAMP 2008 - ITINERARY
Notes: (the small print): $ = money needed for cafe stop. No athlete
shall be required to ride beyond her ability during this Camp. Helmets
are compulsory on all bike rides.
- Day 1: SCENIC TOUR OF THE SANTA YNEZ VALLEY
- Arrival day. Athletes arrive in Solvang (Hwy 101 to Hwy 246 East) and
check in at the Meadowlark Inn, one mile east of Solvang on Hwy 246.
- 11:30am: Bike fitting (if needed) and bike assembly by Specialized
Bikes
- 12:30pm: Lunch
- 1:15pm: Staff and participant introductions
- 2:15pm: Ride - Scenic Valley Tour (30miles)
Solvang - Los Olivos - Foxen - Zaca - Ballard - Solvang
- 6pm: Evening wine tasting
- 6:30pm: Dinner at the Meadowlark Inn
- Day 2: DRUM CANYON LOOP
- 7:30am - 9:30am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn
- 8:00am - 9:30am: Bike assistance available from Specialized Bikes
- 9:30am: Bike tech seminar - learn basic bike maintenance and how to fix
a flat
- 10:30am: Ride - Drum Canyon Loop (45-miles)
- Ride includes a practical seminar on bike skills
- Optional stops along the way back at local wineries
- 3:30pm: Stretching/Yoga seminar
- 5:30pm: Wine tasting and Barbecue at Kalyra Winery
- Day 3: RIDE TO THE BEACH!
- 7:30am - 9:30am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn.
- 8:00am - 9:30am: Bike assistance available from Specialized Bikes
- 9:30am: Bike Skills seminar led by our Specialized Woman Pro
- 10:30am: Ride - One way ride to Jalama Beach County Park (40 miles)
- Picnic lunch by the beach!
- 4pm: Group Stretching/Core Strengthening Session
- 6pm: Dinner at the Meadowlark Inn
- Day 4: HORSE FARMS OUT AND BACK OR FIG MOUNTAIN!
- 7:30am - 8:20am: Breakfast at the Meadowlark Inn
- 8:30am: Briefing for the day, two options: The Fig Climb or Horse farms
out and back
- 8:45am: Both groups depart.
- 1pm: Group lunch
- 2:30pm: Depart Solvang
