A 6 day camp for Ironman, 70.3 and Olympic Distance athletes looking for a fully supported big mileage week. This camp is not limited to triathletes, the cycling is spectacular and a big part of the itinerary, so cyclists are also very welcome.

Now in its 17th year, the goal of this 6 day week camp is to jump start your winter training in all disciplines, meet athletes from all over and enjoy the coaching and seminars led by our professional staff.

It's a week devoted to training, recovery, coached swim, run and cycling sessions, catered evening meals, and camaraderie. Our experienced and professional coaching staff look forward to leading and supporting the athletes through this very fun camp!

This camp is for athletes looking to improve or compete in Ironman, 70.3, and/or Olympic Distance events this year or the near future, and/or those who have completed a century ride. Once again, we also welcome pure cyclists. We will have 2 or 3 groups of different paced cyclists out on the road which allows scope for a variety of paces and experience levels. We love our alumni athletes and appreciate the word of mouth referrals so we wanted to say a small thank you. Full week and part weeks options

Provisional Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival Day - Shuttles from Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) available, Camp starts at 4pm, Swim, Dinner, Introductions

Day 2: Run - easy paced run 45-90 minute options, Breakfast, Ride 45miles with focus on climbing techniques, Pre-dinner seminar, Dinner

Day 3: Swim, Breakfast, Ride to the beach 35-80 mile options, 4pm Part week athletes arrive - short spin to check bikes after travel, Wine tasting, Dinner

Day 4: Recovery day: Run drills at track, Breakfast, Seminar, Ride easy 20-35 miles, Free afternoon, Swim, Dinner, Outdoor movie night around camp fire

Day 5: Fig Day! Ride Mount Figueora loop and climb up to 3,500ft, Brick session available on mountain, Dinner, Free night - local restaurant recommendations available

Day 6: Swim, Ride 40-80 mile options, Afternoon pack up bikes, Pre-dinner drinks at Meadowlark Inn, End of camp celebratory group dinner

Day 7: 8am Road/Trail Run - variable mileage options, Breakfast, Depart camp from 11am. Shuttles to Santa Barbara Airport available starting at 11am.


If you are debating between bringing a road bike or triathlon bike to this camp and have the choice, then our recommendation is to bring a road bike. Gearing should be set up to allow the rider to tackle long climbs as well as steep ones, with preferably a rear cassette with a 27 tooth cog. For a week long camp a road bike offers more comfort and is more suitable to the terrain offered with this itinerary. The exception to this would possibly present if you are racing within a month of this camp and need time on your triathlon bike in prep for your race.


We have two accommodation options for this camp. Both are located within 4 blocks of each other in Solvang town center.

1. The M Solvang, host hotel. The M Solvang hotel is located on the edge of Solvang town center, 1-2 blocks from coffee shops, restaurants, and 3 blocks from our local bike shop. Most camp activities start from this hotel.

The inn has a variety of rooms available. For the camp week, standard queen rooms are $119 per night, and King suites (with additional sleeper sofa option in living area if you would like to share) are $179 per night.

2: Svendsgaard Lodge, Solvang. This hotel is located 4 blocks from The M Solvang hotel, and steps from our local bike shop. A continental breakfast is served at this hotel and you may also enjoy their hot tub!

Svendsgaard Lodge Room Rates:

King Room: Sun-Thurs $74 per night, Fri/Sat $125 per night.

Double room with two queens: Sun-Thurs $89 per night, Fri/Sat $140 per night.

Breakfast: Included with your accommodation at the Meadowlark Inn.

Lunch: We are typically on the road for lunch so leave athletes up to their own devices for this meal. There is a quaint, but fully stocked grocery store open 6am - 10pm every day just a few minutes walk from the Meadowlark Inn in Solvang. The store has a good selection of groceries, wine, a sushi bar, salad bar, deli (where you can have sandwiches made to order at any time of the day) and a coffee bar with wireless internet. There is also a natural food market with a super deli located in the heart of Solvang.

Dinner: Catered dinners each night (with the exception of free night) are all part of the camp fee. We can cater to most dietary requirement, please enquire if you have questions on means.

Ride Food: Training nutrition and hydration provided by our sponsors and an array of real food snacks will be available throughout each training session.


Nearest Airports: Solvang is located just a 35 minute drive from Santa Barbara Airport or a 2 hour/2 hour 30 minute drive from Los Angeles/LAX

Airport Shuttles from Santa Barbara Airport: Our camp staff operate airport shuttles from Santa Barbara Airport to Solvang and return. The airport shuttles we offer need to be booked 3 weeks in advance and are available at the following times:

Day 1 of camp: Pick up at SBA: 12:30pm, 1pm

Day 7 of camp: Departing Solvang at 11am, Noon

(Allow 40 mins for the drive from Solvang to SBA and 75 minutes for check in at SBA (it is a very small airport!).

RoadRunner Shuttle from Santa Barbara Airport to and from Solvang: There is a commercial shuttle tat runs from Santa Barbara Airport to and from Solvang, for details and to make a reservation:

Central Coast Shuttle from/to LAX: There is a bus that goes from Los Angeles Airport (LAX) to Buellton which is a town just 5 miles from Solvang. The cost is $70 one way or $128 round trip (pre-paid) plus $20 for your boxed bike. Details: Central Coast Shuttle. If you take the bus, let us know what time you are going to arrive in Buellton, and we will pick you up at the Buellton bus station.

Rental car or not? Historically about half of the athletes at this camp have a car, but it is not necessary. The camp will provide transport where needed to activities off site and airport shuttles are available to and from Santa Barbara airport.

Build/Pack Option Dr J's Bicycle Shop, our local bike shop in Solvang, offers a build/pack option for our camp athletes for $100. So, you ship your bike to Dr J’s, they unpack and build it up for you pre-camp. You then collect it once you arrive in town (we can assist). Then post camp you return your bike to Dr J’s, they pack it up for you, and ship it to your home. (Note return shipping is additional). Full payment (with the exception of your $100 non-refundable deposit) is refundable for withdrawals up until 7 weeks to go to the start of the camp. For withdrawals after the seven weeks to go mark, but before the 3 weeks to go to the start of the camp mark, 50% of your full payment is refundable. For withdrawals on or after the 3 weeks to go to the start of the camp mark, there is no refund available. If we (Solvang Triathlon Camps) have to cancel a camp for any reason, we will refund you the full amount of your camp fee including your deposit, within 30 days of the cancellation of the camp. We cannot however be responsible for expenses incurred with airline tickets or any travel arrangements.
